Whole home carbon
One carbon tank where the water enters the house, for homes that mind the taste and smell of treated water but do not have a scale problem.
Dealing with Taste or smell · Scale on everything · Staining · A well · Nothing you can taste
The carbon tank. One tank, no salt cabinet.
Some of what it takes care of
Chlorine taste and smell in every glass and every shower
The pool smell that comes off a hot shower
No salt to buy, carry or keep topped up
It does not soften. If the assessment finds scale too, the whole home mixed bed does both in one tank.
The system
One tank of carbon where the water enters the house. Every tap, every shower and the water heater get filtered water, and the carbon takes out the taste and smell left by treatment. No salt and no brine cabinet.
The drinking water stage
Reverse osmosis can go under the kitchen sink, on its own faucet, for drinking and cooking water. More on the RO system
The number
Priced in writing
Tank size comes from how many people are in the house and how much water it uses. The exact number goes in writing before anything is ordered. Want softening too? The mixed bed does both.

Only if hardness is a problem in your house. Scale on fixtures and soap that will not lather point to it, and the assessment settles it. If it is, the whole home mixed bed does both in one tank.
No. Salt is what a softener rinses itself with. A carbon only system has no salt cabinet.
Every tap gets carbon filtered water. For drinking and cooking water, reverse osmosis can go under the kitchen sink on its own faucet.
